I was born in Esfahan, a city in Iran known as "half of the world" because it holds many of the world's beauties. I grew up in Tehran, the capital of Iran, where I attended school and college. After completing my undergraduate studies, I moved to Vancouver, Canada, for graduate school and then to Chicago, Illinois, to pursue my doctoral studies at Northwestern University. I currently reside in Brooklyn, New York.
In addition to being a researcher and designer, I am a musician and ceramic artist. My work in research and design is deeply intertwined with my art and music projects. Practicing music and creating clay art enriches my approach to work, making it more harmonious and creative. Conversely, my design thinking skills help me iteratively improve my artistic creations.
I have been playing Persian music since I was 11. I specialize in the Tar and Tanbur, two traditional Persian string instruments. I performed as a Tar player and singer with the Middle East Music Ensemble in Chicago from 2014 to 2021. Currently, I am exploring Persian Jazz music and undergoing vocal training.
There is nothing as meditative for me as working with clay and making ceramics on the wheel. I have been creating ceramic art in various studios in Chicago and New York, and I am currently a member of the PowerHouse Arts organization in Brooklyn, NY.
