While at the New York Hall of Science, I spearheaded a design-based research focused on designing data-driven learning dashboards tailored for interactive museum exhibits. For this purpose, I led participatory design research with museum educators and managers at NYSCI to co-design a tablet dashboard, using live exhibit data, facilitating visitors' interaction with Connected Worlds exhibit, a highly interactive exhibit that simulates complex ecosystems.
In this project, I designed and tested an augmented circuit exhibit to facilitate learning about basic concepts of electrical circuits, such as current and resistance. Levering my expertise in user-centered design, I developed an interactive experience seamlessly blending a hands-on circuit building interaface (tangibles) with a dynamic electron flow simulation using AR. This exhibit is aimed for children in museum settings. I drove a comparative usability study with 200+ family visitors at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago to study visitors' learning and interaction with different versions of the exhibit.
In this project, I took the initiative to explore the application of surface haptic technology for children's learning, particularly focusing on collaborative learning with parents in informal settings. I directed a design-based research aimed at enhancing interactions between children and parents, with the goal of creating engaging and immersive educational experiences. For this purpose, I closely collaborated with the technology product managers and engineers to develop and test two tablet applications to support children science learning using haptic feedback technology.
This project involves designing and testing an online learning tool to help children learn computational thinking skills through creating music.
